Anyone who wishes to increase their watercolor and abstract painting skills and creativity should take this course.

The course will explore how to manipulate watercolors to produce abstract landscapes, create texture and explore using acrylic inks and paints as watercolor.

Since abstract art has no rules, a goal of this course is to help students overcome the need for precision in painting and paint loosely.

Students will produce many paintings to put their newly acquired knowledge to use.

Materials Needed

I encourage you to use the supplies you have to do your paintings. You do not need to purchase any specific supplies for the course. At a minimum you should have supplies similar to the following:

• Watercolor paints (professional or student-grade) in pans, tubes, or liquid
• Watercolor paper (cold-pressed or rough)
• Brushes (round and flat)
• Palette knife or plastic card
• Water container
• Masking tape
